Response Question :: Sharing His Story (1-41)

In his opening letter, Wendell Phillips describes his first meetings with Douglass. When Douglass tried to read his story to Phillips, what reaction does Phillips have? Why do you think Douglass is so determined to share his life story? If you had been a slave, would you have tried to share your story so openly?

Phillips thinks that this I good work . And having known Frederick for quite some time he feels that it is sad to hear that these heart throbbing event happened to you. Phillips admires how he tramples the Constitution in his efforts to express his slave narrative.

What specifically does Phillips say Douglass should (or shouldn't) do with his autobiography? Why does Phillips think it's so dangerous for Douglass to publish his story?
